City & Guilds Courses
Foundation Learning offers students from age 14 the opportunity to achieve an academic qualification that can be used as progression towards diplomas, apprenticeships, Entry to Employment (E 2 E) programmes and GCSEs
Horses provide a unique learning environment in which to engage students in the learning process. From this platform it is possible for students to develop skills and knowledge that can be independantly assessed and recognised within the City and Guilds framework.

We offer two City and Guilds Level 1 Certificates:
Employability and Personal Development
Aimed at preparing the student for the world of work or college, this course is made up of two mandatory units and three optional units. Features of the qualification include:
- 15 credit points
- Engaging learning environment to deliver this versatile qualification
- Unit awards that are transferrable to other qualifications
- An understanding of positive skills and attitudes for learning and work
- Taking ownership for personal progression
- 12 month course, half day per week.
- PSHE subject.
- Key skills embedded in the course content.
Equine Skills
This is a vocational course with five core units and one optional unit. Features of the qualification include:
- 15 credit points
- Provides practical skills
- Offers supported work experience improving chances of staying at college or work in the future
- Equine programme for those wanting to go on to equine, small animal, agricultural or horticultural courses
- Develops equine skills
- Incorporates personal development, teamworking and communication skills.
- Offers a portfolio of evidence for further career/ college placement.
- Key skills embedded in the course content.
