What is Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL)?

Horses are the animals who most closely mirror people, in the way that they interact with each other and live their lives. Therefore, by understanding how a horse may react or respond to a situation gives us a good indication of how another person may react in that same situation.

Through interaction with the horse and the ability to learn about how he lives, how he reacts to other horses in a number of different situations, it is possible for us to see in a non-confrontational way, the implications of our actions and also to try alternative ways of working in order to achieve a positive outcome.

Due to the unique nature of EFL and the out of classroom learning environment it is highly effective in engaging young people in the learning process. It is also effective in working with corporate clients who are used to an office environment and find the EFL surroundings both totally different, but also very quiet and relaxing in contrast to the often very busy, high pressure, stressful environment that many people work in.

"People do great things by focusing on their possibilities, not by dwelling on their limitations."
- Henry Kissinger
