For Students

If you are a student considering coming on a Seeds of Change Programme, what should you expect?

We work with students from aged 7 upwards and also offer courses to adults. We have equal numbers of male and females on the programme.

If you would like to see what other students have achieved whilst with us, then check out our student area, which will be coming shortly, but in the meantime, here are the answers to some things that you may want to know ...

Girls Riding

Who comes on the programmes?

  • Students from schools and other youth organisations
  • Students who learn best in a non-school environment
  • Those who like horses
  • Students who want to learn something new in a different place to school

What will I be doing?

You will learn a lot of things about yourself, about others and about horses. Some things you will find challenging, but most things you should find fun.

Examples of the things that we do are :

  • Work with the horses
  • Completing different tasks and exercises with your horse and other students.
  • Learning about the similarities between horses and humans.
  • Practical activities: including building obstacle courses, teamworking activities.
  • Understanding how our behaviour can affect how the horse behaves.
  • Understanding how trust and respect for your horse can have a positive impact on what you can achieve together.
  • Learning about horses and eventually riding the horse.
  • Have fun while learning!

What other students have said about our programmes.

  • It's wicked
  • My confidence has grown because I didn't really dare to go near a horse before I did this course
  • I dont like the smell very much, but it is a good place for people who want to learn.
  • I like coming because when we get there, we have tea.
  • I like it, because its good and I love horses and I enjoy being there. There is nothing I dont like about it.
  • I can get a qualification doing something I enjoy - not school!
  • My mates think it is really cool - I tell them that it is!
