PART TIME ASSISTANT TRAINERS

We are currently recruiting for a permanent part time Equine Facilitator to work approx 30 hours per week from our centres in the South East of England.

LOCATION

The job role will be to deliver our own Equine Facilitated Learning programmes to young people and adults primarily within Bedfordshire & Northamptonshire, but it may be necessary to travel to adjacent counties to establish new programmes in these regions.

The position will reqire approx 30 hours per week, mainly in term time, although some school holiday and weekend work may be required.

THE INDIVIDUAL

We are looking for a self-aware individual, with a mature approach, who is easily able to relate to people of all ages through good inter-personal skills. This person will need to be empathetic and non-judgmental with a fundamental interest in building and developing skills and potential in others. Experience dealing with individuals with complex behaviours is important.

They will need to posess good clear communication skills and be able to deliver coaching to meet all kinds of learning styles. Confidence and enthusiasm are important, as is an ability to manage the administration associated with working with vunerable clients.

Good PC skills and the ability to work on their own initiative with a clear understanding of client confidentiality and boundaries is important.

The individual should also possess a good sound working knowledge of horses.

This person will be required to travel to different sites and therefore it is essential to possess a car and a full driving license.

THE ROLE

The role will be to deliver a range of Seeds of Change Programmes to small groups or individuals requiring high levels of support. This coaching is all done through the Equine Facilitated Approach and by using The Seeds of Change structure and programme content, the clients are coached towards a learning outcome. This may be an academic qualification, but can also be a personal goal for them or a transitional goal to assist them through a traumatic or emotional time.

This role will be to work alongside our existing team, in delivering programmes from 6 weeks to 12 months in duration, but will also involve some more tailored one to one programmes that are written specifically for the individual with a specific goal in mind.

The role may develop to working with families and adults who have a number of objectives in persuing this alternative method of coaching.

SKILLS

  • Previous experience of working with vunerable groups / individuals
  • Good sound horse knowledge - preferably an equine qualification
  • Coaching/ counselling skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good IT and written and verbal communication skills
  • Intuition and ability to interpret verbal and non-verbal client feedback and respond accordingly.
