One to One Facilitator

This is a part time, term time only field based position reporting directly to a Seeds of Change Senior Manager.

 Main Duties:

  • Taking over all responsibility for running the Seeds of Change One to One Course in Personal Development.
  • Delivering the course content in the Seeds of Change style and format.
  • Ensuring the physical and emotional safety of the young people and horses.
  • Liaise with the Equestrian Centre Manager with respect to horse requirements and suitability.
  • To undertake responsibility for maintaining and protecting equipment belonging to the equestrian centre and the Seeds of Change.
  • To keep accurate records of each session.
  • To take pictures and produce these for the young person to use in their journals.
  • To liaise with Seeds of Change Management on matters of Child Protection, Health and Safety or other matters where advice or guidance are required.
  • To hold copies of all legal documentation, accident book, insurance and risk assessments.

 Skills

  • A thorough understanding of the Seeds of Change Facilitated Learning approach and course content.
  • The ability to communicate with individuals at all levels, using appropriate methods.
  • Ability to select the most appropriate technique to gain maximum input from the young people and keep them engaged during the sessions.
  • The ability to stay calm, assess a situation and make appropriate decisions to optimise learning for the group.
  • A level 2 equine qualification or equivalent.
  • A level 3 equine teaching qualification if responsible for a riding programme.
  • A counselling, psychotherapy, teaching or similar qualification.
  • To be adaptable, flexible and versatile in communicating in an appropriate manner to best meet the needs of the individual.
  • Proficient with IT and IT systems

Specialist Skills

  • Engage with the individual to support them in their own personal growth and development.
  • Build a relationship with the individual where they feel emotionally safe enough to explore their own potential.
  • To gain an understanding of the individual through a transitional coaching approach.
  • To facilitate the process of personal development appropriate to the learning style, emotional status and requirement of the individual.
  • To review progress after each session and provide feedback towards learning goals and how applicable or achieveable they are.
